Question: Can the membership change the amount of assessments of fees paid?

Answer: The Board has the authority to determine the annual fees for the next budget year. A budget approval meeting is called by the Board of Directors (as it is their responsibility to approve the budget). A budget may be reconsidered by the unit owners if the assessments increase by 115% from the previous year’s assessment. The membership must petition the board to call a special unit owners meeting for the reconsideration of the previously adopted budget [718.112 (2) (e), F.S.].
